With this project I challenged myself with the creation of a typeface, of which the specimen is more than just a 8.5 by 11 poster. I experimented and created the typeface, after which I spent some time getting to know the type and what it needed to live as.

Malum was born. An apple brandy whose family recipe has been passed down since the colonial days of America.

The Malus family, with Latin roots, named their brand Malum, as a nod to the double translation of Malum, “evil” (sometimes a perception of liquor) and “apple” the entire basis of their recipe.
